The active season is about to commence. Supers and nucs at the ready, here we go!
Weekly inspections should commence as soon as the temperature warms sufficiently (and mouse guards can come off if not already done). Fondant can also be removed so soon as nectar can be seen in the hive and then put supers on in readiness. Have nucs at the ready as swarm procedures could come into play at any time from now. Colonies should be queen right, healthy and building so give space to help allay the swarming impulse. Any signs of disease or abnormality should be investigated. The Rape is already coming into flower in fields by me!
